AC-BINDER-20

A compact modular binder-production technology in development by Able Craftsmen Ltd., Canada.

Section 1

Introduction

AC-BINDER-20 is a compact modular binder-production technology currently being developed by Able Craftsmen Ltd. in Canada. The concept is supported by research into traditional clay-rich building materials and their potential for more sustainable construction. AC-BINDER-20 is intended to process suitable clay-rich material into a blended cementitious binder using a compact and potentially decentralized production system.

AC-BINDER-20 is not yet commercially available. All information on this page describes a technology currently in engineering and prototype development.

Section 2

How AC-BINDER-20 Works

The proposed system incorporates flexible heating options — including LPG and electric heating — together with provision for externally calcined material where appropriate. The process follows a defined sequence from raw material preparation through to finished binder.

Engineering Process Infographic

An engineering process infographic supplied by Able Craftsmen Ltd. will be displayed here.

Why It Matters

AC-BINDER-20 is being developed to explore how suitable locally available clay resources, decentralized production, and appropriate construction technology could contribute to more affordable and sustainable construction. The initial field-validation and commercialization pathway is intended for Nigeria, with potential expansion to other suitable Sub-Saharan African markets following successful validation.

Able Craftsmen Ltd. does not claim guaranteed cost reductions, guaranteed environmental performance, or proven commercial performance at this stage of development.
